Scientists from the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) who arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday to inspect the damage caused to the Sri Lankan environment by the fire on the Express Pearl ship observed the ship and the seas for nearly three hours.
They arrived near the ship yesterday (20) morning, accompanied by officials from the Marine Environment Protection Authority.
They had also joined an observation tour of the Uswetakeiyawa beach recently.
A senior official of the Marine Environment Protection Authority told our news team that the scientists will remain in Sri Lanka for another eight days.
