Duminda Dissanayake, State Minister of Solar Wind and Hydro Generation Project Development states that a proposal has been made to use electric vehicles in state institutions.

Minister of State Duminda Dissanayake further stated that the practical use of these vehicles should be explored before implementing the project.

He was speaking at a meeting of the Renewable Energy and Electric Transport Promotion Subcommittee appointed to identify the use of renewable energy in the transport sector and its challenges.

The Minister of State also stated that the promotion of renewable energy and electric vehicles should not be limited to one sector but should become a common program for the entire country.

The Minister of State also said that it was important to identify the real needs of the transport sector in the importation of electric vehicles. The Minister of State said.

Duminda Dissanayake also emphasized that if electric vehicles are imported, the tax exemption or the amount should be less than that of diesel vehicles.
