The tragic news of patients losing their lives due to the negligence of the hospital authorities has been reported in the last few days.

Another shocking incident has been reported from the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.

A premature born infant has died this morning while receiving treatment in the infant intensive care unit of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for about three days.

The parents of the infant allege that their little baby died after falling to the ground during child birth as a result of the carelessness of the hospital authorities.

On the 10th of this month, a resident of Kallanchiya area in Rambewa, Thakshila Udayangani was first admitted to the Kallanchiya Hospital.

She was later transferred to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, where the incident took place.

The baby who had fallen during child birth as alleged by the parent died this morning while receiving treatment in the infant intensive care unit of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.

We inquired from the Deputy Director of Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital and he said that this was a premature birth of a 31-week-old baby and that an investigation has commenced regarding the allegation of the baby falling on the ground.

Meanwhile, the use of an antibiotic has been temporarily withdrawn after a patient of the Gampaha District Hospital has reportedly died after developing an allergic reaction to the medicine in question.

The patient had been admitted to the Gampaha District Hospital on 06 August, to treat a wound. During his treatment, however, the deceased had been administered an antibiotic, to which he had later developed an allergic reaction.

However, the Ministry of Health stated that it will decide whether the vaccine will be completely withdrawn from use after receiving the expert report called in this regard.

In an inquiry made by Hiru News, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella stated that he has ordered the officials to provide an urgent report regarding the incident.
