A bus collision in Padukka Tunnana involving a school bus carrying students from Narammala to Homagama has left 21 students and a teacher injured. The accident occurred when another bus, traveling behind the school bus, collided with it from the rear.

According to the Padukka Police, the collision resulted in multiple injuries among the students and their teacher. All the injured individuals were immediately rushed to the Padukka Regional Hospital for medical treatment. The extent of their injuries is yet to be officially disclosed.

The unfortunate incident unfolded as a group of students from Narammala Mayurapada Maha Vidyalaya embarked on a journey in six buses to participate in a conference at the Homagama Pitipana Institute of Nanotechnology.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision, with a primary focus on determining the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary reports indicate that the bus that collided with the school bus came from behind, raising concerns about potential lapses in road safety protocols.

In response to the incident, the driver of the bus involved in the collision has been apprehended by the Padukka Police on suspicion.
