Thailand's government announced on Tuesday the approval of new visa promotions aimed at attracting more tourists. These measures include visa-free and visa-on-arrival schemes, extended stays for students, and reduced compulsory health insurance for retirees.

Starting June 1, 2024, Thailand will allow travelers from 93 countries to stay for periods of up to 60 days, an increase from the current 57 nations, government spokesperson Chai Wacharonke announced. Additionally, the cabinet approved visa-on-arrival for 31 countries, up from 19 previously.

The new visa promotions include visitors from Sri Lanka, who no longer need a visa to enter Thailand and can stay up to 60 days, according to foreign media reports. These changes are part of Thailand's efforts to enhance its appeal as a tourist destination and boost its tourism industry.
