Sri Lanka today officially launched the 100 Octane premium petrol, known as XP100 rating fuel, under the patronage of Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera, the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, and the Chairman of the Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC).

According to LIOC, the 100 Octane premium petrol will be introduced at the Ninewells LIOC Filling Station on Kirimandala Road in Narahenpita today. The fuel is produced using high-octane gasoline developed through Octamax, an indigenously developed technology by Indian Oil’s R&D Centre.

XP100 is designed to enhance the performance of vehicles, particularly high-end luxury cars and bikes. LIOC states that the price of a litre of this premium fuel will be significantly higher than ordinary fuel products.

The XP100 fuel offers several benefits, including faster acceleration, smoother drivability, enhanced fuel economy, lower engine deposits, and a significant reduction in emissions in high compression ratio engines. These features contribute to boosting vehicle performance and extending engine life, resulting in lower maintenance costs.

The official launch of the 100 Octane premium petrol marks Sri Lanka as the 8th country to offer this type of fuel.
