Delhi Capitals 138 for 4 (Dhawan 45, Smith 33, Pollard 1-9) beat Mumbai Indians 137 for 9 (Rohit 44, Mishra 4-24, Avesh 2-15) by six wickets

Delhi Capital edged out Mumabi Indians with a vintage bowling performance from thje 38 year old Amit Mishra.  IPL 2020 runner-up reached the finishing line off 19.1 overs with Dhawan continuing his purple patch with the bat with another fifty as Delhi Capitals are now placed second in the points table below RCB.

Amit Mishra (4/24) spun his web around the Mumbai Indians (MI) batsmen to restrict them to sub-par 137 for 9 after the defending champions decided to bat.

Mishra had given up ten runs in his opening over, the last of the powerplay, but then came back to break the game open and tear through Mumbai's big-hitting line-up. He took out a free-flowing Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya in his second over, came back to outfox Kieron Pollard with a googly, and in his final over, bowled Ishan Kishan with a yorker. Mishra's 4 for 24 was the best bowling figures for a Capitals bowler against Mumbai in IPL history, and he ran rings around a line-up that had been 67 for 1, going at nearly ten per over.

Delhi Capitals rallied behind Shikhar Dhawan's gutsy batting as they reached the target of 138 runs set up by MI.

Shikhar Dhawan and Steven Smith played their role of senior statesmen perfectly as they guided their team in the middle-overs. With this win, DC have broken their losing streak of five games against Mumbai Indians.

Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with a 45 off 42 balls as DC held their nerves in the final overs to chase down the target with five balls to spare. It was their first win over MI in last five meetings, having lost four times last season in UAE.

Rohit: After the start we got, I thought we could have batted well in the middle overs, which we didn't do. We didn't capitalise on the start in the powerplay, which we failed to do again. Credit to Delhi bowlers - they kept the pressure up and kept taking wickets. We knew dew was going to come in. We saw in the last few games that it's not that difficult to grip the ball. Dew is not really the factor. You need to play smart cricket to win. Just a small niggle, should be okay.

Dhawan: Absolutely different from Wankhede. Brings a lot of confidence to our team. Really happy. We just had to keep the momentum going, we knew at the end it will be difficult for the bowling side with dew. It was important to keep wickets in hand and at the same time have positive intent. Everyone was watching the match intensely in the dug-out and we wanted to win.

Mishra, Player of the Match: I was just trying to get wickets there and bowl slower. My style is to bowl the bowl in the air and get it to dip. I've been doing that for 14 years and I don't want to change much. It's always there, Rohit and Mumbai were match-winners for Mumbai Indians for the last 14 years. So, I always go for the wickets. I was worried, but our batsmen are smart enough. Altogether, we're very happy today.
