A meeting and dinner for opposition political party leaders was held last night (2) at a private hotel in Colombo.
A notable attendee at the gathering was the 9th Executive President, Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The meeting was convened by the Chairman of the United National Party (UNP), Vajira Abeywardena, and was attended by leaders representing over 25 political parties.
During the discussion, the National Organiser of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Namal Rajapaksa, and Professor G. L. Peiris outlined their positions regarding future political activities.
Topics discussed included organising a public rally in Colombo under the guidance of the combined opposition, and key joint measures to be taken by the parties as a united opposition moving forward.
UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena stated that the meeting was extremely useful and important. Former President Ranil Wijesinghe reportedly agreed to almost all the proposals put forward during the discussion.
