Workshop+launched+to+develop+Polonnaruwa+district+tourism+plan

The first workshop for the development of the Polonnaruwa District Tourism Plan was held recently (14) at the auditorium of the Polonnaruwa District Secretariat.


The workshop primarily focused on discussing the existing challenges within the tourism sector in the Polonnaruwa District and identifying the necessary actionable steps for its enhancement. Participants were also invited to submit their ideas and proposals.


The program was chaired by Polonnaruwa District Secretary Sujantha Ekanayake.


The resource person for the event was Professor D.L.A.H. Shammika Liyanage from the Department of Public Policy, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Ruhuna University.


The session saw the participation of government officials representing various state institutions in the Polonnaruwa District, as well as businessmen involved in the tourism industry.
