Three police constables face interdiction for allegedly maintaining close relationships with suspects and allowing them to possess prohibited items, according to the police media division.

Those suspended include a police constable from the Central Criminal Investigation Bureau and two police constables attached to the western province north crime division.

The police media division stated these three officers worked while maintaining close ties with suspects.

Senior officers took action to interdict the two constables attached to the Peliyagoda division after a team from the division’s criminal investigation unit discovered prohibited items inside the police cells.

The two constables on duty that day allegedly allowed suspects in two cells to possess drugs and provided facilities for them to keep cigarettes, lighters, and pieces of tobacco.
