Janhvi Kapoor has become the latest victim of the misuse of AI. An AI-morphed image of her from the hit song Chuttamalle from the 2024 film Devara has gone viral.

The clip digitally modified the actress’s appearance to create more suggestive imagery. Megastar Chiranjeevi has joined many Telugu celebrities in condemning the worrying trend of rampant misuse of AI.

Taking to X, the actor said he was “deeply disturbed” by the trend of creating morphed pictures of women, as it degrades them.

The star urged the TFI (Telugu Film Industry) to condemn it jointly and take steps to curb it, as this goes beyond just one individual’s problem.

“This is not an issue concerning just one individual or one film. Today, it has happened to someone else. Tomorrow, it could happen to you, me, or anyone we know. We cannot remain silent simply because it has not affected us personally,” he said.

Chiranjeevi said he would raise the matter with the Telugu Film Chamber, Producers’ Council and other affiliated industry organisations.

He proposed establishing a specialised committee and assistance centre for individuals targeted by AI-generated abusive material.

He stressed that both creators and those who intentionally circulate or promote such content should face legal consequences.

He also called for close coordination with cybercrime officials to assist victims, facilitate the removal of offensive material, and initiate appropriate legal proceedings against those involved.

Do Not Download The Clip

The superstar requested fans not to circulate the clip or download it but to report it to cybercrime authorities if they come across the clip.

“Please do not watch, download, share, or circulate these videos, even with the intention of condemning them. Report them to the respective platforms and cybercrime authorities instead. Protecting human dignity is our collective responsibility. Let us stand together, speak up, and act,” he wrote.

Jr NTR Condemns The Trend

Earlier, RRR star Jr NTR, who was the male lead of Devara, took to X to call out the perpetrators and threatened legal action.

Calling the trend “disgusting, sick, and shameless", the actor lamented that in a country where women are venerated as mothers and goddesses, some are using AI to denigrate them.

“To the scumbags behind this morphed Chuttamalle video, I will not spare any of you. I will take every possible legal action against those who created it and those who are spreading it,” he said.
