When the inquiry with regard to the Rathupaswala incident was opened this morning, Chief Magistrate Tikiri Jayatilaka stated that the future investigations should be carried out on the Attorney General’s instructions.
The Magistrate said in the morning that he would announce whether military evidence is necessary in the afternoon.
However military personnel did not give evidence with regard to the case this afternoon.
SSP Nuwan Wedisinghe of the Colombo Crime Division and his officials appeared before the Court today.
Our correspondent said that 2 army officers also appeared in the Court to give evidence.
When the Magistrate asked on what basis the army personnel were produced to give evidence, Colombo Crime Division OIC CI Nevil de Silva said they were summoned to give evidence on the firing of gunshots.
