IGP+NK+Illangakoon+To+Retire+Today

The Constitutional Council will meet on the 18th of April to arrive at a decision on the appointment of a new Inspector General of Police.

President Maithripala Sirisena nominated the names of Senior DIGs Pujitha Jayasundera, SM Wickramasinghe and Chandana Wickramaratne for the post that would be left vacant by the retirement of the IGP N. K. Illangakoon.

Sri Lanka’s 33rd IGP N. K. Illangakoon, who joined the police in 1982 will officially retire today after five years of service at the helm.
