The printing of ballot papers relevant to the presidential election began at the Government Printing Press under police protection.
The elections commission day-before-yesterday had handed over to the printing press the names of the 35 persons contesting the presidential election after preparing the names according to the alphabetical order.
An election commission spokesman said that accordingly about 16 million ballot papers required for the presidential election would be printed within the next few days.
While the ballot paper is 26 inches long, it is considered to be the longest in the history of the presidential election.
Meanwhile issuing of ballot boxes relevant to the Elpitiya Divisional Council election scheduled to be held tomorrow is due to begin at 7 this morning.
Meanwhile, 46 complaints pertaining to the presidential election have by now been received at the National Elections Complaints Management Centre set up at the Election Commission premises.
Similarly PAFFEREL executive director Rohana Hettiarachchi said that from the date of announcement of the presidential election up to now 36 complaints regarding violation of election laws have been received.
