The couple arrested for creating a phonographic video near the Pahanthudawa waterfall and posting it on the internet has been sentenced to three months imprisonment with a suspended sentence for seven years by the court yesterday (01).

In addition the Balangoda Magistrate's Court also imposed a fine of Rs. 10,800 on the couple.

The couple pleaded guilty before the court.

Investigations revealed that a 24 year old female from Elpitiya and a 34 year old photographer from Maharagama were involved in the incident of recording the phonographic video. 

The couple was arrested by the CID on September 02 and before being arrested, the police went to the area where the waterfall is located and conducted an investigation.

The two were arrested and later released on bail. At the time of the arrest, the man was diagnosed with Covid infection.

This incident sparked off a wider debate in society, with diverse views  on the arrest and the incident. 

Meanwhile in New Delhi India Actor Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra was granted bail by a Mumbai court two months after his arrest over allegations of shooting and streaming porn. He has been ordered to pay INR 50,000 surety for his release.

Mumbai Police had filed a 1,400-page charge sheet in court listing charges against the businessman, who has been married to Shilpa Shetty since 2009.

The businessman, was arrested on July 19, and the charge sheet said Raj Kundra was the "main facilitator" and, along with other accused, exploited young women struggling in the film industry.

Pornographic videos were posted on various websites and apps, the charge sheet alleged, adding that the videos were sold through subscriptions.

The charge sheet includes statements of 43 witnesses, including Shilpa Shetty, who has been listed as a witness.

Shilpa Shetty's statement also said she didn't know of the controversial apps "Hotshots" or "Bollyfame", both linked to the porn racket.
