A 41-year-old man was shot dead this evening (16) near his residence at Kande Mawatha, Ambalangoda. Police reported that the victim was shot in the head in front of his house.

The victim has been identified as former cricketer Dhammika Niroshan, who represented the Under-19 Sri Lanka Cricket Team in 2002. During his tenure, he also captained the Under-19 cricket team of a leading school in the country.

No information about the suspect or suspects has been uncovered yet, and police investigations are ongoing.
