The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has announced that candidates can deposit their election bonds starting from 8:30 AM today (26 July) until 12 noon on 14 August 2024, the day before nominations are accepted.

For the 2024 Presidential Election:
Candidates nominated by recognized political parties must deposit Rs. 50,000.
Candidates nominated by other political parties or by individual electors must deposit Rs. 75,000.

The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has issued the Gazette notification detailing the schedule for the 2024 Presidential Election. According to the notification, nominations for the election will be accepted on 15 August 2024, and the election will be held on 21 September 2024.

The Gazette outlines that the current President's term will end on 17 November 2024. In accordance with Article 31 (3) of the Constitution, the Presidential Election must occur no less than one month and no more than two months before the expiration of the President's term.

The Election Commission has designated 15 August 2024 as the official date for candidate nominations, which will be conducted at the Election Commission office in Rajagiriya. The polling for the Presidential Election is scheduled for 21 September 2024.
