Colombo, August 5 – Chief Government Whip and Minister of Housing and Urban Development Prasanna Ranatunga has assured that the government, which currently holds a simple majority, will not encounter governance issues in the coming two to three months.
He assured that the government will effectively operate over the next two to three months, despite holding a simple majority.
Speaking to the media after an event in Divulapitiya on August 4, Ranatunga expressed concern that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) could face a significant reduction in its parliamentary representation if it does not make strategic decisions. He warned that the party could be reduced to just two or three members if the right choices are not made.
Ranatunga reflected on his experience as the chief organizer of the ruling party over the past two and a half years. He stated, "We need 113 members of Parliament. We can manage in the remaining two or three months with our simple majority. If we make the right decisions, we will continue with Pohottuwa. If not, we risk being reduced to only two or three members."
