The names of the students who achieved the best results in the 2023 (2024) G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination have been released. 

1st Place:

Malsha Kumarathunge, Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya, Galle

2nd Place:
Kuluni Methsala, Musaeus College, Colombo
Jayanadee Rathnaweera, Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala

4th Place:
Seshani Sehansa Jayawardhane, Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo
Methuki Chamodi Perera, Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda
Naduni Pamuditha Ranawaka, Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya, Galle

7th Place:
Nemedhini Wonara Adhikari, Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda
Thathsara Kavindi, Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha
Thamashi Dhananjana, Sri Sumangala College, Panadura

A total of 3,527 examination centers were established across the island, with 452,979 candidates participating in the exam, including 387,648 school applicants and 65,331 private applicants.

According to Commissioner General of Examinations, Amit Jayasundara, out of the 322,537 students who sat for the examination for the first time, 244,228 have qualified for higher education, marking a success rate of 75.72%.

The overall failure rate stands at 2.12%.
