Dr. Amarasuriya also stressed the need for pre-school education to come under the Ministry of Education. She criticized the previous government for excluding early education from the ministry, not based on educational priorities but for political benefit.
Emphasizing her administration's approach to equitable education, the Prime Minister explained that their focus is on integrating schools rather than creating divisions by ranking them as “best” or “most popular.” She added that the government does not plan to conduct competitive examinations for students below grade 8, aiming to reduce early academic pressure and foster a more inclusive educational environment.
