A two-year-old girl has tragically died in an accident involving a tipper truck and a motorcycle in Kilinochchi town on the Jaffna-Kandy main road. The girl's mother, father, and another 7-year-old girl were injured and admitted to Kilinochchi Hospital. Police investigations revealed that the tipper truck driver, who was also injured, was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Additionally, four other people lost their lives in separate accidents in the Rathgama-Aguruwatota, Kahathuduwa, and Vavuniya police divisions yesterday.

In another incident, a cab traveling from Polonnaruwa to Habarana caught fire and was destroyed in the Minneriya Thuru Sevana area on the Habarana-Polonnaruwa main road. A 64-year-old passenger from Biyagama died of burns sustained in the fire.
