In a significant development following the recent local government elections, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB)-led opposition today (June 17) secured control of the Neluwa Pradeshiya Sabha in the Galle District, where they hold a majority. Ajith Chandana, the SJB candidate, was elected as the Chairman of the Neluwa Pradeshiya Sabha.
Meanwhile, in the Trincomalee District, Mohamed Mahdi, the SJB candidate, was elected as the Mayor of the Kinniya Urban Council after securing the majority in the mayoral election held today.
