Midigama Chuti, an alleged organised crime figure and drug trafficker who had been in hiding abroad, has been arrested in Oman.
Reports indicate that Midigama Chuti is a close associate of both Harak Kata and Midigama Ruwan.
It has also been revealed that Midigama Chuti and Midigama Ruwan have been jointly orchestrating drug trafficking operations with Harak Kata.
Investigations have shown that the shooting incident on the Weligama-Kapparathota-Valliwela road last January was carried out by Midigama Chuti's faction.
Midigama Chuti is also believed to have orchestrated several previous shootings in the Weligama and Midigama areas.
The most recent of these incidents was the fatal shooting of a fish vendor near the Midigama-Goviyapana bridge last September.
