The final rites for the late Deputy Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter of the Siam Sect, Most Venerable Anamaduwe Sri Dhammadassi Thera will be held this afternoon (24) with full state sponsorship.
The ceremony will be held at the Asgiriya Police Grounds and will be telecast live on Hiru TV from 1.30 p.m. onwards.
A large number of devotees, including members of the Maha Sangha, are currently visiting the Asgiri Maha Viharaya to pay their last respects.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya also paid their final respects to the late Anunayaka on Wednesday (23).
