FORMER DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PRISON HOSPITAL FURTHER REMANDED

FORMER+DEPUTY+DIRECTOR+OF+PRISON+HOSPITAL+FURTHER+REMANDED+
Former Deputy Director of Prison Hospital, Nayanajith Hemantha Ranasinghe, who was arrested and remanded in connection with a 2024 bribery incident, has been further remanded until the 26th of this month by the Colombo Magistrate's Court.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali Jayathunga issued the order after considering the submissions made by the Bribery Commission and the defense lawyers.

The doctor was arrested by the Bribery Commission on suspicion of soliciting a bribe of Rs. 1.5 million and accepting Rs.300,000 to keep a detainee at the prison hospital instead of sending him back to the Boossa Prison after his treatment was completed.
