Monaragala+businessman+arrested+for+selling+e-cigarettes+to+students

Monaragala Police yesterday (October 4) arrested a businessman in Monaragala town for allegedly selling electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes), targeting school and tuition class students.


Acting on a tip-off, police used an undercover agent to purchase an e-cigarette device from the suspect's shop in the town for Rs. 9,400.


The businessman was taken into custody at the point of sale.


Police reported that the suspect had been charging students Rs. 50 per puff of the e-cigarette.


The 48-year-old shop owner from Monaragala town, along with the seized e-cigarette device, is scheduled to be produced before the courts.
