The first and second floors of the recently constructed five-storey building at the Monaragala District General Hospital, built by the Ministry of Health, were inaugurated recently.
These two modern wards, which are part of a complex that will include a new surgical theatre complex, maternity wards, a neonatal unit, and surgical wards, are specifically designed for pre-natal, post-natal, and maternity services.
The new facility replaces the hospital's previous old maternity wards, and is equipped with all the necessary amenities to provide the highest standard of service to mothers and newborns in a more comfortable and clean environment.
The opening ceremony was attended by specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Dr. Sameera Madugalle, Monaragala District General Hospital Director Dr. Iresha Pathirage, and other hospital staff.
