The winter season is emerging, and Sri Lanka is attracting more tourists as airlines expand services to Colombo. Several new carriers have added the country to their route networks, while existing airlines are increasing capacity to meet rising demand.
Enter Air will launch regular charter flights from Warsaw to Colombo (BIA) on October 30, 2025, operating every ten days with flights on Thursdays and Sundays until mid-April 2026.
Beijing Capital Airlines plans to start scheduled flights from Beijing Daxing International Airport to Colombo (CMB) in January 2026, with two flights per week.
Meanwhile, Jetstar, a subsidiary of the Qantas Group (Australia), is exploring scheduled services to Colombo in 2026. Several other international carriers are also in the pipeline, signaling continued global interest in the Sri Lankan market.
To manage the rising passenger demand, Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (AASL) has set up 12 additional check-in counters at BIA, operational from November 1, 2025, and, in collaboration with Sri Lanka Tourism, initiated a temporary marquee to ease capacity constraints.
This expansion comes alongside strong passenger growth earlier in 2025, with over 7.5 million passengers handled by January–September, including nearly 1.7 million tourists, highlighting Sri Lanka’s resilient aviation industry and its growing appeal as a key travel destination in the region.
