A person who sustained serious injuries in a motorcycle crash on Cotta Road, Borella, last night (03) has passed away while receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.
According to the Borella Police, the accident occurred when a motorcycle travelling towards Borella along Cotta Road lost control and crashed into a street lamp.
Police stated that two individuals were on the motorcycle at the time of the crash. Both were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
While one individual died by his injuries during treatment, police noted that the identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.
The other individual involved in the crash, the pillion rider, is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National Hospital.
Excessive speed is suspected to have been the cause of the crash. A team of officers from the Borella Police Station is conducting further investigations into the incident.
