Corey Parker, a versatile actor whose career spanned film, television and mentoring young performers, has died, according to TMZ. He was 60 years old.

His family told TMZ that he died Thursday in Memphis, Tennessee, following a battle with cancer.

Parker began his career in the mid-1980s, landing the role of Pete in “Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning” (1985), a performance that helped establish him in the horror genre. He then went on to appear in the Kim Basinger romantic drama “9 1/2 Weeks” (1986).

In 1992, he gained wider recognition as Neil Barash on the sitcom “Flying Blind,” starring alongside Téa Leoni as an awkward college graduate navigating love with her free-spirited character. The series, which ran for one season, also featured guest appearances from Lisa Kudrow, Peter Boyle, Andy Dick and Noah Emmerich.

Television audiences also remembered Parker as Josh, one of Grace’s boyfriends on “Will & Grace,” appearing in five episodes of the popular NBC series. His other screen credits included “Biloxi Blues,” “White Palace,” “Love Boat: The Next Wave,” “Nashville” and “Blue Skies.”

Later in his career, Parker turned to coaching, helping actors refine their craft on shows such as “Sun Records” and “Ms. Marvel,” leaving a lasting impact behind the camera.

Parker grew up in a creative household. His mother, Rocky Parker, who was married to Patrick Dempsey in the late 1980s, and his sister, Noelle, were both actors.

Known for his charm on screen and dedication to guiding younger performers off it, Parker is remembered by colleagues and fans alike for his warmth, humor and lasting impact on the entertainment community.
