Blackpink member and actor Jisoo is set to receive the Madame Figaro Rising Star Award at Canneseries, the international series festival taking place April 23-28 in Cannes.

The award, which honors a personality who has become a major figure in the industry, will be presented during the festival’s opening ceremony on April 23. Past recipients include Sydney Sweeney, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Marie Colomb, Ella Purnell, Morfydd Clark and Phoebe Dynevor.

Canneseries artistic director Albin Lewi said Jisoo’s “artistic journey, her ability to conquer new creative territories, and her global aura” made her the ideal honoree. He described the upcoming ceremony as “already shaping up to be one of the highlights of this new season.”

Since debuting in 2016 with Blackpink, Jisoo has built one of the most prominent profiles in global pop culture, with the group notching sold-out world tours and record-breaking streaming numbers. As a solo artist, she counts over 80 million Instagram followers, making her one of the most-followed Korean personalities on the platform.

In recent years, Jisoo has built a parallel career as an actor. She took on her first leading television role in the 2021 Korean series “Snowdrop,” which drew significant domestic and international attention, before making a special appearance in the 2023 film “Dr. Cheon and the Lost Talisman.” In 2025, she starred in both the film “Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy” and the series “Newtopia.” Most recently, she has been starring as Seo Mi-rae in the Netflix series “Boyfriend on Demand,” which launched March 6.

Her acting work has earned recognition at multiple awards ceremonies, including Best New Actress at the 2nd DDU Awards, Best Actress in a Series at the Brazil Acervo Awards, and the Hallyu Drama Actress Award and Asian Star Award (International Category) at the Seoul International Drama Awards.
