The opening day of the 147th Battle of the Blues between Royal College and S. Thomas’ College concluded today (12) at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) grounds, with the Thomians in a steady position.


At stumps, S. Thomas’ College had reached 203 for the loss of 4 wickets in their first innings.


S. Thomas’ was bolstered by resilient half-centuries from Jaden Amaraweera and skipper Avinash Fernando.


Amaraweera played a patient knock of 52 runs to anchor the innings, while Fernando matched the effort with an unbeaten 50, showcasing disciplined stroke play against a persistent Royal bowling attack.


For Royal College, Gagan Gamage was the most economical and effective bowler of the day, finishing with figures of 1 for 19.
