Amid a cautious approach to market participation driven by the uncertain global geopolitical environment stemming from US-Iran tensions, the Colombo Bourse remained largely stagnant throughout the session.


The ASPI was flat, recording a marginal gain of 1 point to close at 22,568, while the S&P SL20 also exhibited minimal movement, declining by just 1 point to close at 6,205. CINS, CTC, COMB, JKH and MELS were the top positive contributors to the ASPI.


Participation from both HNW and retail investors remained subdued, resulting in overall dull market sentiment said First Capital Reperch.


. Daily turnover stood at LKR 2.1Bn, marking a decrease of 45.7% over the monthly average of LKR 3.8Bn. Capital Goods sector led the daily turnover with a share of 17%, followed by the Food Beverage & Tobacco, and Banking sectors collectively contributing 31%. Foreign investors turned net sellers, posting a net outflow of LKR 31.1Mn.
