The wind speed in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mullaitivu to Potuvil via Kankesanthurai, Mannar, Puttalam, Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota will increase up to 50-60 kmph from time to time, and the sea areas can be rough from time to time, the Department of Meteorology states in a notice.

The wave height in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Potuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota may rise to about 2-3 metres, and there is also a possibility of sea waves coming ashore in the nearshore areas extending from Chilaw to Matara via Colombo and Galle, the notice shows.

The Department of Meteorology further requests the fishing and naval communities engaged in fishing and naval activities in those sea areas to be vigilant.
