A small lorry collided with a slow train travelling from Maradana to Aluthgama at the Palliyamankada unprotected railway crossing in Wadduwa. The Wadduwa Police stated that the vehicle was travelling from the Galle Road side towards the coastal side at the time of the collision.

The driver of the lorry sustained minor injuries and was admitted to the Panadura Base Hospital.

According to residents, this railway crossing is not protected by any colour signal system or gate, despite being a very busy location used daily by vehicles and people.

Residents expressed deep concern that numerous constructions in the area obstruct the clear view of the railway track, noting that responsible authorities failed to take action despite being informed.

The Wadduwa Police are conducting further investigations.
