In a bid to introduce a reliable and modern solution for the storage and distribution of solar energy, senior officials of 365 Future Energy, an Australia-based sustainable energy solutions company, together with internationally recognised energy technology entrepreneur Ludovico Finotto and Chief Executive Officer Isuru Yapa, are currently in Sri Lanka and have met with top government officials.
The strategic visit aims to explore sustainable energy solutions, assess emerging opportunities in Sri Lanka’s energy sector, and identify potential investment and technology partnerships that could support the country’s long-term energy transformation.
Isuru Yapa said Sri Lanka is currently facing challenges arising from an oversupply of rooftop solar power, mainly due to inadequate energy storage infrastructure. He noted that as a result, rooftop solar producers are often instructed to curtail or switch off supply during peak generation hours, as the national grid struggles to manage fluctuations in supply and demand.
He added that this imbalance has created operational pressure on the electricity system, highlighting the urgent need for improved storage capacity.
Yapa emphasised that strengthening energy storage systems would allow excess solar power to be stored and released during peak demand periods, thereby reducing reliance on thermal power generation and easing pressure on the national grid.
365 Future Energy, an Australia-based sustainable energy solutions company, focuses on delivering innovative and environmentally responsible energy systems that support the global transition toward renewable power infrastructure.
Through this visit, the company aims to better understand Sri Lanka’s growing energy requirements and explore opportunities for collaboration in renewable energy technologies, energy storage systems, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and next-generation sustainable energy solutions.
“We have commissioned several plants across the world and recently launched a 1 GW energy storage facility in Australia,” said Ludovico Finotto, Founder and CEO of QiOn Technologies.
He added that the company aims to introduce similar solutions to Sri Lanka.
QiOn Technologies was recognised in 2025 as a “Top Innovative Charging Solution USA” provider and in 2026 as the “Battery Storage and Charging Software European Company of the Year.”
