Parliamentarian Mujibur Rahman has made a Facebook post stating that seeing the wife of former State Intelligence Service chief Suresh Sallay frequently in the media these days reminded him of an incident that took place during the Gotabaya Rajapaksa administration.

In his post, he wrote that it should be investigated why Sallay allegedly attempted to portray Mr Hijaz as the mastermind by making false accusations against him.

He further stated that if Sallay is innocent, he has nothing to fear and should prove his innocence before the law, rather than resorting to self-harm.

Rahuman also recalled receiving an urgent phone call around 9 p.m. on a night in April 2020 from Hijaz’s wife, informing him that CID officers had arrived at their home.

He said he subsequently went to the residence and, upon inquiry, was informed that Hijaz was being taken into custody for questioning and was subsequently arrested and taken to CID headquarters.

He added that Hijaz was later held under a detention order (DO) for a period of time.
