Taking Sri Lankan humanitarian CSR initiatives to the global stage, the LOLC Divi Saviya programme by LOLC Holdings PLC has earned international recognition by securing the International CSR Excellence Award for Community Commitment.
The award ceremony was organised by The CSR Society, a subsidiary of The Green Organisation UK, and held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.
Roger Wolens, Founder and CEO of The Green Organisation and the International CSR Excellence Awards, said the value of the awards is measured in multiple ways.
He noted that such initiatives deliver tangible benefits not only to communities but also to the organisations implementing them. “They demonstrate that companies genuinely care about society and are willing to invest in making the world a better place, not just for business growth but for people as well,” he said.
He added that the achievements recognised through these projects are “truly remarkable.”
An LOLC spokesperson said the recognition reflects the collective dedication of the organisation’s leadership, teams, partners, and the communities it serves. “This accolade is a testament to our commitment to driving meaningful and sustainable impact for communities in need, guided by our belief that responsible growth and social progress go hand in hand,” the spokesperson said.
LOLC Divi Saviya is an initiative aimed at strengthening educational opportunities for schoolchildren across Sri Lanka.
Launched in February 2023, the programme has been addressing the pressing needs of students nationwide by providing essential school supplies, including exercise books and mathematical toolkits, helping create an enabling environment for learning and development for students from Grade 1 to Grade 13.
