Weligama Sharks will take on defending champions Colombo Aces tomorrow, July 19, at the Sri Lanka Padel League, with matches scheduled to be held at Padel House, CR&FC.

A victory for Weligama Sharks would be considered a major upset, given the Colombo Aces’ status as defending champions and one of the strongest teams in the competition.

Weligama Sharks, owned by Avishka Perera and Anika Seneviratne, are one of the newest franchises in the league. The team is also among the youngest in terms of ownership and player lineup, positioning them as clear underdogs in the tournament.

Despite their newcomer status, the Sharks have assembled a competitive squad, including Jaitra De Saram, who previously represented the Colombo Aces in last year’s league.

The match is expected to be a closely watched encounter as the Sharks look to make an early statement against one of the league’s most established teams.
