The Sri Lanka Association of Airline Representatives (SLAAR) successfully convened its 33rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) at The Kingsbury, Colombo, with the participation of members, past presidents, and key stakeholders from across the aviation industry. Sudeshinie Jayawardena was elected Chairperson of the Association for the new term.
Director General of Civil Aviation of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), Daminda Rambukwella, attended the event as Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between industry partners and regulators and encouraged stakeholders to continue efforts to position Sri Lanka as a competitive aviation hub in the region.
In her remarks, newly elected Chairperson Sudeshinie Jayawardena called on members to remain united in purpose and steadfast in their commitment to the industry. She emphasised the importance of collective effort in contributing meaningfully to the continued progress, resilience, and growth of Sri Lanka’s aviation sector.
Founded in 1993, SLAAR was established to represent the interests of airline representatives in Sri Lanka, particularly offline airline representatives. Over the past three decades, the Association has played a key role in supporting the aviation industry through advocacy, engagement, and collaboration with stakeholders.
SLAAR actively works with regulators and industry partners to address operational and policy-related challenges while promoting initiatives that support the growth, efficiency, and sustainability of the sector. Through dialogue and partnership, the Association continues to contribute to the development of a more competitive and resilient aviation industry in Sri Lanka.
The AGM also brought together representatives from member airlines and industry organisations, providing an opportunity to review the Association's activities over the past year and discuss priorities for the future development of Sri Lanka's aviation sector.
