The Colombo Bourse ended lower today, with subdued sentiment continuing from previous sessions and weighing on overall market performance. The ASPI declined by 75 points to close at 22,361, while the S&P SL20 edged down by 11 points to settle at 6,215.


Heavyweights such as Sampath Bank PLC, Hatton National Bank PLC, Richard Pieris and Company PLC, John Keells Holdings PLC, and Citizens Development Business Finance PLC were among the key negative contributors to the ASPI during the session.


“Investor participation from both high-net-worth and retail segments remained relatively muted, reflecting cautious market sentiment”, First Capital Research said.


Daily turnover stood at LKR 1.9 billion, down 35.6% compared to the monthly average of LKR 2.9 billion. The Capital Goods sector led turnover with a 24% share, followed by Banking and Diversified Financials, which collectively contributed 33%.


Foreign investors remained net sellers, recording a net outflow of LKR 379.4 million.
