Corporate strategist, academic and leadership author Professor Senaka Wijesinghe has launched his latest book, Che Guevara: Leadership Lessons from Che, offering a fresh perspective on leadership by examining the enduring qualities of one of history's most influential figures through a contemporary management lens.

The book was officially launched at a ceremony in Negombo on 1 July, attended by business leaders, academics, professionals and invited guests.

Rather than focusing on Che Guevara's political ideology, the publication explores the leadership qualities that enabled him to inspire others, lead under extreme adversity and remain committed to a clearly defined vision. Professor Wijesinghe argues that these attributes, including resilience, discipline, courage, adaptability and purpose driven leadership, remain highly relevant to today's corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, managers and professionals operating in increasingly complex business environments.

The book encourages readers to examine leadership through historical case studies while drawing practical lessons that can be applied to organisational development, strategic decision making and personal growth. It highlights integrity, conviction, emotional resilience and the ability to unite teams around a shared vision as essential characteristics of effective leadership.

Professor Wijesinghe said leadership is defined not by authority or position but by the ability to influence, inspire and create lasting impact. He noted that successful organisations require leaders who can make difficult decisions, adapt to change and remain committed to long term objectives despite uncertainty.

Guests at the launch described the publication as a timely addition to leadership literature, particularly as organisations place increasing emphasis on purpose driven leadership, innovation and organisational resilience. They said the book offers a balanced and thought provoking examination of universal leadership principles that transcend political and historical contexts.

The publication further expands Professor Wijesinghe's growing body of work on leadership, organisational excellence and executive development, reinforcing his contribution to advancing leadership thinking in Sri Lanka and beyond.
