Sallay files the writ application against arresting and detaining him under the Prevention of Terrorism Act in connection with the investigations conducted into the Easter Sunday terror attacks.
Venerable Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera, Patriotic National Movement Convenor Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekara, and several other parties presented these intermediary petitions.
The petitions were called today before Court of Appeal President Judge Rohantha Abeysuriya and Priyantha Fernando.
Deputy Solicitor General Suharshi Herath, appearing for the respondents, presented facts before court stating that these intermediary petitions can only be considered if court issued notices regarding the original petition.
Intermediary petitioners' lawyers, including President's Counsel V.K. Choksy, Manohara de Silva, as well as Krishmal Warnasuriya and Ashok Bharan, presented facts before court, stating that this case has become subject to intense public attention by now and requested permission to intervene and present facts.
Court of Appeal President Judge Rohantha Abeysuriya however mentioned that these intermediary requests can only be considered after the submissions of President's Counsel Sanjeeva Jayawardena, who appears for the petitioner, conclude.
The intermediary petitions were ordered to be called on July 17.
