Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekara says the government has ensured national security at the highest level since assuming office.
He made these remarks while attending the seat conference of the 'Nawalapitiya and Kotmale Adhithana Retired Tri-Forces Collective.'
The Deputy Minister said that although certain issues related to public security had emerged from time to time, steps have now been taken to completely resolve them.
He further stated that he and his team have always carried out their duties in accordance with the Constitution and with a commitment to principles.
Deputy Minister Jayasekara also said that the National People’s Power (NPP) media spokesperson is expected to make an official statement in the coming days regarding the current situation concerning the appointment of the Commissioner General of Prisons and the proposed restoration of the Bogambara Prison.
A large gathering, including local political representatives and retired members of the tri-forces, attended the event.
