A youth was arrested today (13), in the Dompe, Jambugahahandiya area along with 9 kg of ice narcotics worth crores of rupees and a stock of weapons, the Police Special Task Force stated.
Officers of the Special Operations Unit of the Special Task Force Gonahena camp arrested a 25-year-old youth during a raid conducted today (13).
Police arrested the suspect while he was transporting narcotics on a motorcycle. Later, during a search conducted at his house located in the Dompe, Jambugahahandiya area, 9 kg and 120 g of ice narcotics worth millions of rupees, 3 ‘Johnny battas’ (explosives), 4 fuses, 5 swords, and 20 ammunition rounds used for M-16 firearms were seized, the Police Special Task Force mentioned.
He acted as the main broker for storing and distributing narcotics island-wide for an individual named ‘Varuna’, a handler of a powerful drug network hiding in Dubai, police interrogations revealed.
The arrested suspect and the stock of weapons along with the narcotics were handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) for further investigations.
