A former Management Service Officer of the Department of Motor Traffic was arrested in connection with an investigation into illegal vehicle transfer activities conducted at the department, the Bribery Commission said.

The commission stated that the arrest was made on charges of facilitating the entry of an illegally imported motor vehicle into the department's computer system by issuing counter numbers to register and complete the first transfer of the vehicle, which had been brought into the country without Sri Lanka Customs clearance and without paying customs duties.

The arrested suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.
