Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala stated this following a special discussion held at the Matara District Secretariat this afternoon (27).
Although the police recommended removing the Kavadi dance item due to the unrest that arose in recent days regarding the security and discipline of the procession, steps were taken at this special meeting to grant the opportunity for traditional dance items of the procession in this manner through the agreement of all parties.
In addition to the Minister of Public Security, Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya, Matara District Secretary Chandana Thilakarathne, and Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Southern Province Kithsiri Jayalath, along with a group of officials, participated in this occasion.
