Naval and fishing communities are advised not to sail in the sea areas from Puttalam to Potuvil until further notice due to strong winds and rough seas.

The Department of Meteorology states that wind speeds in the sea areas off the coast from Galle to Potuvil via Hambantota will increase up to 60 to 70 kilometres per hour at times, and these sea areas will be very rough at times.

Therefore, naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture into these sea areas until further notice.

Meanwhile, wind speeds in the sea areas off the coast from Puttalam through Colombo to Galle will increase up to 50 to 60 kilometres per hour at times, and these sea areas will be rough at times.

Therefore, fishing and naval communities engaged in fishing and naval activities in these sea areas should remain vigilant regarding this matter.

Accordingly, the department requests the public to stay attentive to future notices issued by the Department of Meteorology.
