Sri Lanka recorded 1,386,228 tourist arrivals from January to August 6, 2026, according to tourism data, while arrivals during August 1 to 6 totalled 42,810.
Daily tourist arrivals in August averaged around 7,000, indicating a gradual recovery in tourist arrivals.
Among the top 20 source markets from January 1 to August 6, India remained the largest source market with 346,057 arrivals, while the United Kingdom maintained second place with 135,323 arrivals.
China ranked third with 91,538 arrivals, followed by Germany with 81,101 and the Russian Federation with 79,628.
Australia ranked sixth with 68,868 arrivals, followed by France with 67,007. (SS)
