The visiting Indian team scored 288 runs for the loss of only 2 wickets at the end of 73 overs on the first day of the first Test cricket match between Sri Lanka and India, which commenced today (15) at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.


Devdutt Padikkal, who played a magnificent innings for the Indian team after winning the toss and deciding to bat first, managed to score 178 runs off 131 balls.


KL Rahul, who built a successful partnership with Padikkal in the early part of the innings, walked off the field due to an injury (Retired Hurt) while scoring 77 runs.


Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 32 runs.


In bowling, Prabath Jayasuriya took one wicket for Sri Lanka.
